PROSTHETIC LEG – GOAL R50 000
My nephew, Mondliwethu Duke, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in August 2016. It started as a fracture, or we thought it was. Then he started limping and the leg started to swell up. We never expected to hear such terrible news. This 13-year-old, vibrant teen, had cancer. It was so heartbreaking, it still is. It was all too much to take in. A cancer diagnosis is hard enough for an adult, but for a teenager, it is unspeakable. He went through four rounds of chemotherapy. In December, as he was recovering so nicely, the cancer came back stronger than before.
He could not move or sleep. His leg was amputated this year in March. Due to the financial burden of going through treatments, that has been taxing, we are unable to afford the prosthesis. He is still going through more chemotherapy and is so excited about getting a new leg. His one dream is to be able to walk again and to go back to school.
Please help us put a smile on his face, after all, he has been through.
Your contributions would be greatly appreciated.
